Browsing DVD

1. View All Reports
  • Click View All Reports hyperlink on the top right side of the screen.
2. Search - One can use the search engine to quickly find reports. Type any words in the search engine text box, select a search option, and click on the Search button. The search engine will compare the search term against the data such as code no, title, authors, citation, keywords, or year and the matching reports will be shown on the right side of the screen.

Search by Options - Select a field to be searched from the Search by: drop-down box

Sort Options - Select a field to be sorted from the Sort by: drop-down box

Search Options - There are three options for searching if there are more than one word typed in the search box. Separate each word with a space to conduct multiple words search. If there is only one word typed in, it does not make any difference which search option is selected.

  • All of these words (=AND) - select this option to search all words. All words must be present (not necessarily as a phrase) to be returned in the search results.
  • Any of these words (=OR) - select this option to search by any word. At least one word must be present to be returned in the search results.
  • Phrase search - select this option to search all words as a phrase. All words must be present as a phrase to be returned in the search results.

3. Index of Author, Keyword, Code no, or Year

  • Click the "Index of" drop-down box to display the index of Author, Keyword, Code no, or Year used in the reports in alphabetical order, which are hyperlinked to do an automatic search when clicked.
Note: that the search option will automatically be selected to the Phrase search in this case.
  • For names with an apostrophe following the first letter, such as "O’Hare", use a space instead of an apostrophe; thus, "O Hare".

How to View a Report and Print the Page

When one of the browsing and searching methods above is used, all the matching reports will be shown on the right side of the screen. The result page contains the search term, total number of matches, and the page links at the top of the page. The search results are displayed in a nicely organized format and every occurrence of the search term is highlighted in the result page for easy-scanning through the results.
  • Click on the title of a report to view the actual report. The report will open in a new window.
  • To print a list of the reports on the screen, click Print this Page link at the bottom of the page.
